Hi,I listen to TwiT (MBW. Security Now. Windows Weekly. The Tech Guy)NPR's "It's All Politics". Linux RealityFresh UbuntuCranky GeeksIT ConversationsIn the TrenchesLotsa podcasts... This summer while on the road my podcast list was much larger than when Im at home with wife life and kids. This summer I listened to:The top 51. Lugradio (reruns),2. BOL,3. Twit4. Mapamundi de Madrid- mestizo/patchanka music from all continents5. Hashlugradio - the show about the show.6. Linux Action Show - for the Gnu in all of us7. Radio JardinRojo mestizo/gypsy/afro/reggae from Vienna (in spanish)8. Various CNet stuff... Real Deal/Gadgettes/CNETLive9 perderelnorte com our friends from the Barcelona indie scene10. Bande a Part - French Canadian indie scene11. Meltingpod - the marseille indie sound and various world music12. Sports show like Bill Simmons/Basketball Jones/The Beautiful Game (Futbol)13. Bigupradio com so many reggae podcasts you could just listen to this all week.14. Maccast - Nah just kidding!!15 normlaudiostash com - since Clinton gave us the new war on Marijuana (as well as DMCA. COPPA and the gutting of the radio industry to Clearchannel) possesions arrests have doubled (now over 800,000 every year)If I still had to listen to something and didnt want to listen to music:DiggnationDL. TV (painful to listen since Patrick left)Parisdjs com interviews Cranky Geeks - only worth it when heavily intoxicated. Tried a lot of Rev3 stuff like Om Malik and Totally Rad ShowDrove through 12 countries a couple of times lots of road lots of time to kill to listen to all this but since Im home not so much time so Im a more discerning listener which means these five:1. BOL2. Lugradio),3. TwitI might comprehend to a show here and there from the above list to keep abreast but these are the three podcast I listen to as soon as they bring home the bacon.4 radiofreeamsterdam com - The John Sinclair Radio Show Honourable Mention: Leo Laporte radio show -the topics are just ok but the baby loves Leo's smooth voice and always falls asleep to it.(nice backhanded compliment) He also screams like a banshee at the sound of Dvorak/Cranky Geeks. My favorite (there were many not so good) podcast moment was at a Festival in Tours this summer after our set everyone stuck around at the side of the re-create to watch Maceo Parker just destroy the place while I decided to crash backstage and listen to Tom and Ralf talk about Microsoft Office replacements for which I was presented with a "I am tech geek" t-shirt the following day that I wear proudly as a sign that I always have my priorities straight Brought an iRiver player with me but used mainly a watch/USB key/Mp3 player/audiorecorder I bought last year at an german flea market. I no need no steenkin Mp3 phone NPR's "wait wait don't tell me" is one of the best radio shows/podcasts out there. Here's the link: BOL and TWiT are about it for me. I also listen to the Adam Carolla show from LA. (I'm in Atlanta so I have to find.. um creative ways of getting it.)Normally. I'll listen to BOL for 3 or 4 days out of the week and Adam for the others. Often times I'll delete the TWiT from that week without listening to it. And the Adam Carolla show is so long that I'm about a year behind on the eps. I used to like Diggnation a lot but my commute is only about 35 minutes so an episode and half of BOL gets me through the trip to work. Most days I'm on my cell phone for the ride home. (Sorry to those who evaluate of calling while driving. It's a way of life here in Atlanta and the only way I keep in contact with my family approve in FL. Contrary to popular belief it is possible to drive safely and talk on the phone. It's not that hard.) Hi folks,This has been a really work couple of weeks with hacked websites new exploits and improved encryption all over the place.. we see most of the different groups working hard with the exception of the act guys. Given how active they've been in the past creating new provoke pages every few days sending huge amounts of spam and sometimes creating new versions of their bots every few minutes one has to wonder where they are? It'd be nice to think they've given up and got legit jobs but one has to wonder if this is simply the proverbial calm before the (new) Storm. "Exporting successful Internet ideas to other countries" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 16:26:09

This week Professor talked about how commodity ideas in the US would be great ideas somewhere else. He gave the example of the founder of who created a ~$100M finance in Vietnam to replicate any single company successful in the US: Amazon eBay etc. There are plenty of opportunities with successful internet companies in the US that need to be in a different language (or be to be local) when they target a different country. A lot of populate in other countries cannot read/write in English. founder of already wrote in his about how he made his fortune copying ideas from the US (e g. he founded among others which was sold by $550M to Deutsche Telekom). He recently gave the example of how hard is for Spanish or French people who cannot speak English to chat program the avatar etc in. He thinks that there should be a Second Life in French or Spanish and he has change surface bought a domain for it. Five months ago I talked to my friend to try to create a in Spanish and for Spanish websites. We undergo not done it because we are too work with Tabarca Networks. And nobody else has done it as far as we know. Sorry but very few populate who look at Fon would think of me as a person who copies American ideas and brings them to Europe. explore News BT Fon and read what the touch says pls. Fon is a very original very European idea of solidarity brought to America. I fully accept with you. I think that FON is original and with global force. I always communicate to my international friends about FON I am proud that the idea comes from Spain. Regarding the info I furnish in the post. I was not alter and I did not mean that you write ideas. I just meant that you adapted Ya com to the Spanish merchandise and there exist other opportunities to alter successful ideas in America (or somewhere else) to the Spanish merchandise (or any other country with a different language). But FON is another story and I adjudge that it is original very European and brought not only to America but globally. A lot of friends at MIT from other countries also know about FON.
