As a continuation of our exploration of the idea of Anglo-Quebec poetry as both a sociological phenomenon and as an aesthetic handle of literary activity. Todd Swift and I undergo edited a feature of 27 Anglo-Quebec Poets for the Australian-based Jacket Magazine. The selection of poetry (while by no means exhaustive) is extremely varied interesting and exciting and includes the bring home the bacon of (among others) Leonard Cohen. Erin Moure. Peter Van Toorn. "Elgrino Rumbero: Justice for Samina Malik" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:27:21

From :. Evidence presented at her trial included poems she wrote. Apparently she is a prolific poet. Here's one of the poems the prosecutors presented at the trial:How to BeheadHold himTie the arms behind his backAnd bandage his legs togetherJust by the anklesBlindfold the punkSo that he won't hesitate as muchFor on seeing the sharp pointy knifeHe'll begin to shakeAnd continuously scream desire an eedyatAnd jiggle desire a jellyTrust me – this ordain sure get you angryIt's better to have at least two or three brothers by your sideWho can direct the foolBecause as soon as the warm sharp knifeTouches his naked fleshHe'll go to experience what'll happenNo evidence was presented at the trial to prove that Ms. Malik had actually committed or was change surface planning any violent actions against anyone. She was convicted for possessing certain types of literature and writing certain types of poetry. In other words she was convicted for merely thinking certain types of thoughts. But I'd desire to declare that she was also convicted for thinking certain types of thoughts AND being the child of Asian Muslims. I have written much more violent poems than this one -- one of which was actually published in my High educate literary magazine. It's hard for me to imagine that there are no other 22-year-olds in the U. K who have written violent poetry and/or are in possession of books like "The Anarchist Cookbook" or "Guerilla Warfare" (Ernest "Che" Guevara). Ms. Malik was singled out because of her race and religion. But never object the air of Racism for a minute since the dominant discourse disavows the existence of Racism in the world today. What about FREEDOM -- for which these English and U. S imperialists claim to be committing genocide in the Middle East? And where is pardon International or Human Rights Watch? How go I undergo been able to sight only defending Ms. Malik's right to freedom of thought? Has our new motto become (thanks Stephen Colbert) "'be free or do whatever it takes so I don't die"?

"An Eclipse of Blogging Ideas" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 16:48:23

To act with about running out of blogging juice today’s topic ordain confront other ways of coming up with communicate topic ideas and overcoming blogging eclipses. This Tuesday there will be a be lunar eclipse most visible in the North and South American continents. The eclipse would be the back up one to become as of this year. For bloggers however we all know eclipses in ideas occur every other day (sometimes change surface more). We undergo been talking about how we get new ideas in one writers’ community and I said that when thinking of what to write. I usually stare at the blank computer check until blood starts running down my nostrils. One writer called it “nosebleed day” which is very fitting don’t you think? Just earlier. I have construe something similar. A freelance writer upon interview was asked how he starts writing his pieces. His say was something akin to “I stare at the empty paper until beads of sweat appear on my forehead.” I’m sorry I have no idea who it was who had said that but I’m happy I’m not the only one who bleeds when it’s time to put pen on cover (or in my case type words on screen). Other than the usual types of posts (lists reviews etcetera; see ) here are some others types you could use for personal blogs. Words are good and unless you run a photo blog most of your posts should be written words. There are times however when you need to break away from text and post pictures in your blog. I believe I have tried to employ this advice from the very go away of this post. You would find that posting pictures provides relief from the onslaught of text in one page. The photo above was taken by yours truly but the eclipse photo was taken from a procure free photo resource. If you don’t undergo a digital camera or if you just lack the knack for photography you can always access these repositories. Some examples include and among many others. Images in government web sites and wikipedia are also copyright-free. No limits no rules no guidelines. All that matters is for you to be able to create a confection of words which is significantly different from prose. You can also try writing sonnets limericks tanka and other types of poetry you can think of. Try using an visualise that goes with your poetry to act an force. There are many bloggers’ inspiration resources out there. It just takes a bit of measure to dig and find something of determine. I open after some searching. It’s a web site where bloggers could find an idea to affix and allows you to post your own ideas as well. There’s nothing much there alter now but there might be one to spark your imagination. You could always use combinations of above elements. All it needs is a little creativity and the ability to evaluate quickly. Good luck on coming up with those new communicate posts!
