Chin Music: The Pacific Standard Reading SeriesAn Evening with Poets John Brehm. Lorraine Doran and Janine Joseph Thursday. December 6th @ 9:00 PM Come out for Chin Music. Brooklyn's new reading series at Pacific Standard bar in Park Slope. Established and rising poets and writers from near and far are featured during each of our seasons – one each winter and another in late spring. On December 6th we are featuring three Brooklyn-based poets: John Brehm. Lorraine Doran and Janine Joseph. Also be sure you join us for our final reading of 2007 on December 13th featuring Kimiko Hahn. Lynn Aarti Chandhok and Roger Sedarat. Readings for January and February 2008 to be announced soon. Series curated by Colin Cheney and the co-owner of Pacific Standard. John Rauschenberg. Located on Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn near the Atlantic/Pacific station. His poems have appeared Poetry. The Gettysburg Review. The Southern Review. Boulevard. The Missouri Review. Prairie Schooner. The Best American Poetry 1999 and many other journals. He is a freelance writer and the Associate Editor of The Oxford Book of American Poetry. He lives in Brooklyn. New York. Lorraine Doran is a poet and writer living in Brooklyn. New York. Hailing from New Jersey she teaches in the Expository Writing Program at New York University. Janine Joseph was born in the Philippines and now shuffles frequently between California and New York. She has poems forthcoming from Nimrod. Salt Hill and Bear Flag Republic an anthology of prose poems and poetics by Greenhouse Review Press. A Kundiman fellow she holds degrees from UC Riverside and New York University. Directions: Pacific Standard is located at 82 Fourth Avenue in Park Slope. Brooklyn between St. Marks and Bergen Streets. It's a short walk from a dizzying array of subway and commuter rail lines at the Atlantic/Pacific station namely the 2. 3. 4. 5. D. N. Q and R as well as the Long Island Railroad. New York subway map. After you exit the Atlantic/Pacific station just walk four blocks south on Fourth Avenue to get to our bar. We're not too much longer a walk from the F and G stop at Bergen Street and are also close to the B61. B63 and B65 bus lines.

Because I have so many gardeners visiting I feel an incumbent duty to push upon you a poem an compose and her schedule entitled The Wild Iris. I may push more of her poems soon. Winter is long. The Red PoppyThe great thingis not havinga mind. Feelings:oh. I have those; theygovern me. I havea lord in heavencalled the sun and openfor him showing himthe fire of my own heart firelike his presence. What could such glory beif not a heart? Oh my brothers and sisters,were you like me once desire ago,before you were human? Did youpermit yourselvesto open once who would neveropen again? Because in truthI am speaking nowthe way you do.
